Level 3 International Award in beach Lifeguarding is for those learners wishing to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a qualified beach lifeguard. It covers the preparation, health and safety of a beach environment, and how to respond to beach emergencies and emergency situations in open water areas.
This qualification is assessed by Practical Observation & Open Response Assessment. This qualification is usually obtained by taking 2.5-day classroom-based course and allows successful learners to operate as a qualified beach lifeguard for 2 years. After this period, learners will need to retrain and go though reassessment in order to remain a qualified beach lifeguard. This qualification is internationally recognised. The BLQ is valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
